Dell XPS 15z: the new benchmark?

Although it takes a deep breath, this laptop is a MacBook. It is the Dell XPS 15z, "one 15-inch notebook's thinnest market" as defined by its constructor. 2.47 cm thick with a weight of 2.51 kg, measurements are very similar to the PC from Apple. To perfect likeness, the XPS 15z is adorned with an aluminum hull of the most beautiful effect.

The configurations proposed are not ashamed to face their model. Two platforms are available: Core i5 2.3 GHz (2410M) or a Core i7 grima up to 2.7 GHz (2620m). In both cases, these processors are accompanied by standard 6 GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and an nVidia graphics card: the GeForce GT 525m.

The screen displays a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. However with this added option, the XPS 15z exceeds its competitor, taking a 1080p HD resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels on the MacBook Pro.

With this new XPS, Dell's goal is to provide a computer similar to the MacBook Pro, but for a price much lower than those charged by Apple. Thus, similar configurations, with advantage to the XPS, Dell's laptop displays a bill of $ 1,500 (1070 €) against the competitor bill of $ 2,700 (1930 €). The question is whether the difference between Windows and Mac OS is worth more than $ 1,000.
