Asus Skips Robots at This Year Computex Event and Flaunts Super Thin Laptops Instead!

If you had attended Asus’s press conference last year, all you will remember is the flashing of lights and camera on the special robot called the Zenbo. The smart robotic device which promised to be by your side for acting as smart home assistant, security guard, kids mate or even a photographer. While this was definitely a big change in the technology field, Asus changed its plans this year, decided to skip on anything robotic and went right with Asus super thin laptops!

Asus is today one of the leading IT technology brand with a perfect pairing of technology with the people’s lifestyle. Asus offers its customers the computer and mobile devices at great prices and competitive technology to win their hearts! In a recent press conference held at Taipei, Taiwan the focus was laid on the Asus super thin laptops with its special models added to the collection of ZenBooks – The Zenbook Flip S and The Zenbook Pro UX550. Both the models have been launched with the latest of technology developments and have a classic style. While the ZenBook Flip S is claimed to be the ‘World’s thinnest convertible laptops’ the Zenbook Pro UX550 comes as a gamer’s powerbox!

ZenBook Flip S: This 1.1kg convertible laptop has the power processor from Intel Core i7-7500U in touchscreen display of 4k and flips for a complete 360 degree. The thickness of the Asus ZenBook Flip S is about 10.9mm which was compared to the MacBook Air i.e. 1.35kg of 17mm and HO Spectre x360 i.e. 1.29kg with 13.8mm of thickness. It was found that indeed the Asus super thin laptop is the thinnest convertible laptop.

The ZenBook Flip S comes as a very fast performance laptop with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. The machine can stand by on battery for about 11.5 hours and reaches only 60% in 49 minutes. It uses USB-C port for the peripherals. The ZenBook is said to hit the stores for sale from September at a price starting $1099.

ZenBook Pro UX550: As amazing like its predecessor, the ZenBook Pro UX550 is a smart laptop of 15.6 with 4K touchscreen display which runs on the intel core i7-7700HQ seventh generation quad core processor, which has a 16GB DDR4 RAM, A graphic card and a Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti that makes it interesting device for the gamers. The New and Powerful Nvidia GPU to Be Supported By Asus

Nvidia
On Thursday, Nvidia launched the latest of its GTX 900s series of mobile GPUs, GTX 960m and GTX 950m. These have been designed to evolve and make the gaming laptop as futuristic as well as future-proof as possible. Asus had recently unveiled GX501 which is one of the machines that has incorporated the latest Nvidia tech already. According to the reports the new GPUs comprises of gaming-enhancing features as Shadow-Play, Battery-Boost, and Optimus.

Shadow-Play can track the achievements and capture the videos, Battery-Boost will prolong the play time by managing battery consumption and the Optimus will optimize laptops for battery life and performance. Although Asus is not ready to reveal more about the specifications of GX501, they have hinted that the GTX 960m card will be bounded with worthy hardware. Reports suggest that the GX501 will have the option of a resolution of 3840 x 2160 or even standard HD apart from option of a 4K display. Asus has improvised the cooling system of their gaming laptops for stealthier performance.

Nvidia's Win:

Before freezing on its plans for the GX501, Asus was reported to be keeping a watchful eye on the processor competition in the market. Even though long-awaited Broadwell chips have been announced by Intel, but still they are in the initial phase and haven’t been able to reach to their maximum potential as if now. The market also saw AMD which basically struggled to compete with both Intel and Nvidia in the GPU wars. According to senior gaming analyst at Jon Peddie Research, Ted Pollack, this doesn’t mean that AMD is giving up and the game is still not over. AMD does have compelling option for some of the consumers.

Prospect of Gaming Laptops:

According to Mike Schramm, manager of qualitative insights at EEDAR, even though there has been constant rise in the mobile gaming machines, smartphones, tablets, laptops in general are still flourishing. He further added that there is not crossing between the worlds of mobile gaming and laptop gaming. Most of the gamers rely on laptops for playing desktop-style PC games. He further pointed out the today gamers are ready to pay more for high-end laptops to play AAA titles, which are the big budget games and give a totally new experience from mobile gaming. Players might chose tablets for enjoying Monument Valley but go for laptop to play League of Legends.

According to Tim Coulling, senior analyst at Canalys, the market is open for both for PCs and laptops as this is mainly due to gaming and productivity. Hardware manufacturers are leaning towards gaming due to the changing environment. The current market is showing a decline in the sales price making it difficult for the vendors like Asus to make money in the desktop and notebook market. Coulling adds that even though at the lower end prices might be dropping but still PCs will continue to have their own place in every home, especially due to the keyboard and mouse.

Both Google and Microsoft do not want dual OS !

Asus Transformer TD300
Marketing of hybrid Asus Transformer TD300 which was to offer both Windows and Android is indeed stopped under pressure from Google and Microsoft. At CES Las Vegas 2014, the manufacturer prestigiously announced Asus Transformer hybrid TD300, which had the distinction of taking both Android and Windows to switch from one to the other in seconds.

This device rather special was designed in collaboration with Intel and must show the flexible use of Intel processors can handle both OS with the same chipset. However, that Google was not very enthusiastic about the idea, fearing perhaps that will promote the interests of Microsoft. The Wall Street Journal, however, reported that the group Redmond has also lobbied opposite for the hybrid Asus Transformer TD300.

In his case, he would fear to see Google may invite fresh competition on the market for business computers, is trying to protect Microsoft marketing efforts. Asus should also stop marketing its computers Asus All in One P1801 and p1802 which also proposed Dual OS, due to a change in policy of Microsoft it will no longer show its support to this type of system.

These conflicts may be related to the Group's strategy of Redmond seeking royalties from all stakeholders the Android ecosystem with respect to its patents. Intel’s idea is to offer processors from which manufacturers could for example allow their customers to choose their OS at the time of purchase, which is always better than from getting caught up in a single partnership. Note this is the trend of dual OS which is going to finds its way on Smartphones also between Android and Windows Phone; Karbonn and manufacturers Huawei is ready to launch their product.

Product review – The Asus Transformer Pad TF7101T.

If you are in the market for a hybrid device that adds versatility to your everyday tasks, Asus recently released an Android version of the Transformer Pad with new tech upgrades and features.
For fans of Asus tablet devices, it may be worthwhile to take a look at the new Asus Transformer Pad TF7101T hybrid tablet PC. The TF7101T has carried over a lot of the features included in previous versions of the Transformer, with new features that include more power and a higher resolution screen.

What is the Asus Transformer Pad TF7101T?

The Transformer Pad TF7101T is the latest hybrid device from Asus that offers sleek styling and versatility. The TF7101T has also hit the market with a higher performance tablet and detachable keyboard dock that provides a second battery, resulting in an impressive battery life. Asus has also returned to the Android operating system after offering Windows 8 in some of its previous devices.

When you look beyond the stylish chassis, the TF7101T is designed with performance in mind with a more powerful processor than previous Transformer Pads.  The tablet portion of the device is designed with a higher resolution IPS capacitive touchscreen which brings images to life with vivid colors and exceptional contrast.

In terms of design and aesthetics, there is a lot to like about the stylish look of the TF7101T.  The tablet is finished with a classy brushed aluminum backing with a texture that displays flashy circles when you move the device at different angles.  The keyboard dock has the same upscale brushed aluminum finish with full-sized keyboard that converts the Transformer Pad into a portable Android laptop.

The hinge that connects the keyboard dock to the tablet is a standout feature due its strength and durability.  When used as a laptop, this allows you to hold the device at virtually any type of angle without having to worry about damaging the hinge mechanism.

Asus has also kept the plastic materials to a minimum with a plastic frame around the camera lens.  This is not a bad feature since a completely aluminum chassis can compromise your Wi-Fi signal and potentially interfere with GPS performance.

What are the Technical Specifications?

The new Asus Transformer Pad TF7101T is designed with a new and improved 10.1-inch display with 2560 x 1600 resolution and 299 ppi.  The 10.1-inch screen size has been carried over from other Transformer Pads however, there is a noticeable difference in the display which is designed with IPS (In-Plane Switching) and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The IPS panel also uses Super IPS plus which is the same technology used in the Apple iPad.  This feature produces a stunning display that surpasses the Transformer predecessors with an impressive viewing angle of up to 178 degrees.

Another interesting feature in the display screen is the inclusion of IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) technology which produces a higher than normal Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with lower power consumption.  IGZO technology is created by Sharp and uses an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) approach which produces a wider scope of colors at a lower cost with a thicker and more durable screen.
Other specifications include:

Processing Performance:  The Transformer Pad TF7101T is equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra 4 T40X chipset and ARM Cortex-A15 quad-core processor running at 1.9GHz with 2GB of DDR3 Random Access Memory (RAM). There is also 32GB of internal storage and a 72 core GeForce ULP Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Port Connectivity:  The TF7101T is equipped is equipped with one USB 3.0 port for connecting USB peripherals, microSD card slot which supports up to 64GB of storage, micro HDMI port for video output to a flat screen TV, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.  The USB port and microSD card slot are located on the keyboard portion of the device.  There is no microUSB port for charging the battery or transferring data since there is a proprietary one located on the bottom of the device near the hinge stabilizers.

Wi-Fi Connectivity: Internet connectivity is achieved with dual band Wi-Fi that operates on the 802.11 a/b/g/n standards and Miracast for wireless delivery of video from your mobile phone or other device.  The Transformer Pad TF7101T is also equipped with GPS capability for convenient use as a GPS device in your car, and Bluetooth 3.0 capability for connecting Bluetooth-enabled devices.  There is no mobile 3G or 4G Internet connectivity included in this model.

Keyboard:  The TF7101T keyboard features a full-sized QWERTY keyboard with keys that are slightly smaller than what you would find in a conventional keyboard design.  There is also a generously sized touchpad constructed of a durable plastic with mouse buttons on either side.  Although the touchpad is plastic, it still provides great response and functionality which is paralleled with the glass touchpads on other similar devices on the market. The mouse buttons are a bit stiff at first and its take a little time to adjust to their performance.

When you type on the keyboard the action is rather stiff with limited traveling space.Still you get a nice response with a tactile click with each keystroke. In addition to typing, there is also access to a variety of functions on the top row of the keyboard including Android shortcuts, adjustments for screen brightness, Wi-Fi controls, and quick access to your web browser, multimedia controls, and more.
On the tablet portion of the Transformer Pad, there is a virtual onscreen keyboard which allows you to type faster, thanks to the main panel which displays both numbers and letters together. This saves time and hassles with switching back and forth while you enjoy improved productivity with ultra-responsive keyboard functionality.

Camera:  There is one front facing 5 megapixel camera on the tablet portion of the Transformer Pad TF7101T which provides average performance.  There is no flash capability but images come out relatively decent when you use the camera in well-lit environments.  The camera also functions well for video chats with video capability that is average for this type of device.

Audio:  The TF7101T features just one speaker which is located on one end on the back of the tablet.  The speaker is drilled into the aluminum casing which allows for some sound reverberation before it exits through the grille. The result is a relatively decent sound quality for a tablet device. There is also a control panel for adjusting the audio for playing games or listening to music. The audio panel is also installed as an overlay which means you can access it from any location.

Battery Life:  The Transformer Pad TF7101T offers two batteries which provide an exceptional battery life.  The tablet is equipped with a 7820 mAh (Milliamp Hour) battery which provides up to 9 hours of life with normal usage, even when you are streaming video.  The battery life is about 3 hours less when you engage in processor-intensive video games.  When the keyboard is connected, the battery adds up to four more hours of battery life which is somewhat less when engaging in video games. The keyboard dock also charges the device with a complete charge for both the keyboard and tablet achieved in less than three hours.  There is also a selection of power and audio modes to allow you to get more out of the battery life.

Dimensions and Weight: The keyboard dock adds a bit more weight to the Transformer Pad at 1.3 pounds or 585g.  This is not exactly bulky but slightly weightier than other hybrid devices of this caliber. Dimensions are 10.40 x 7.10 x 0.40 inches (L x W x H) or 180.8 x 263 x 8.9 mm.

In terms of price, the Transformer Pad TF7101T is priced at a lower cost than the previous Transformer Pad Infinity at approximately £430 depending upon where you make your purchase (business usersd can get a discount - this IT Vendor in London for example offers discounted Asus products). The price is also competitive with the iPad and other higher end tablet devices on the market.

What Operating System Does It Use?

The Asus Transformer Pad TF7101T runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the option to upgrade to Android 4.3.  The interface has undergone a few minor changes which allow you to run a series of apps simultaneously, thanks to a utility tray that can also function as widget overlays. The utilities include a video player, calculator, countdown, unit converter, compass, dictionary, stopwatch, and audio settings.

There is also a quick launch tool which is accessed by holding down the Home button.  After you press the button down, a circular icon appears that allows you to quickly access your favorite apps in addition to an app menu.  Asus has also added some of its own apps and graphical elements such as SuperNote (see the play store) which is a note taking app and App Locker, which allows you to control access to specific apps according to user.

The multimedia experience in the operating system is also rather pleasant with minimal latency for processor-intensive applications.  The loading of web pages is speedy and smooth and high definition videos run seamlessly with immaculate viewing on the high resolution screen.

What are the pros and cons?

The Transformer Pad TF7101 is a very functional and versatile device with an impressive battery life which sets it apart from its competitors. To help you learn more, here are a few pros and cons:

Pros

Improved processing power with Tegra 4 provides a pleasant computing and multimedia experience.
The design and finish is top quality and mimics some of the top end devices on the market.
GPS function is speedy and accurate.
Impressive screen with super sharp colors and images.
Keyboard and tablet provide top-notch fast response.

Cons

Asus still needs to improve the outdated thick screen bezel.
Inconvenient speaker location for audio.
Highly reflective screen may make viewing difficult in certain environments.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a hybrid device that is versatile with a sharp screen, faster processing performance, and great battery life, the Transformer Pad TF7101T is a remarkable device that will meet your expectations. It is also offered at a great price point which is less than the Transformer Pad Infinity and competitive with the iPad. Plus, you get the versatility and improved performance.

If design is of extreme importance, you may find the thick screen bezel and other features to be slightly outdated.  Asus has not changed much in this area but, perhaps future devices will be sporting a new design to maintain competitiveness in the design department.

Overall, the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T offers everything that you may like about the Infinity if you are a fan of that device, adds updates and improved performance, and at a lower price.  This makes for an all-around decent hybrid that is both functional and affordable.

Asus Fonepad Note FHD6

Asus Fonepad Note FHD6

Asus Fonepad Note FHD6
Fonepad goes Smartphone. All are making their Smartphones larger and larger but Asus only shrinks their Fonepad from the 7- inch tablet additionally with phone function, a fancy Phablet in six inch Full HD on an Intel platform. The competitor is Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

In April of this year, Asus came out with the first Fonepad on the market - judging by the name and the size of seven inches, a tablet to make phone calls. Therefore, we have tested it as a tablet. Now the inventor of the Eee PC to set and have presented the Fonepad FHD note 6 to the IFA. The idea to put everything in the name is, though certainly well-intentioned, it sounds a bit bumpy sort of.

The new Fonepad has a six inch display with full HD resolution and a stylus. Because of the shrunken dimensions of the 6 Series now fits exactly into the modern category of Phablet and therefore runs at us as a Smartphone. Thus, it must also prove against the self-proclaimed rival, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. In terms of cost Asus introduces the much larger screen and with the 349 Euros significantly it is a lower price in the field.

This time, instead of traditional chip from Intel, the dual-core Atom Z2580 comes with up to two GHz clock frequency used. Graphic calculations take an Imagination PowerVR SGX 544MP2 with up to 533 MHz operating clock. Measures, a whopping raise of two GB of RAM and the internal memory amounts to 16 GB. In the market a model with 32 GB is already announced.

Each one can expand the memory via microSD card. You can choose your colour from any of the two namely “Soft Charcoal Gray" and " Glaze White". . The Asus Fonepad Note FHD6is almost eleven millimeters and 214 grams not only the thickest Phablet, but also the heaviest The Galaxy Note 3 ( 8.3 mm , 168 g), the Xperia Z Ultra ( 6.5 mm , 212 g) and the Ascend Mate ( 9.9 mm , 200 g) are in some cases considerably slimmer.

Nevertheless, dimensions and weight of the device does not seem oversized, but give the Phablet a solid impression. The six -inch display is covered by a scratch resistant mineral glass and is designed to protect the input medium. The upper area is visually dominated by the comparatively large stereo speakers than the lower part.

The entire front is surrounded by a metal frame; making the 6 FHD gives a trivalent face. This is further substantiated by the torsional stiffness of the device. Moreover, the presented Fonepad is absolutely insensitive to pressure. The back is made of a soft plastic, which gives a very pleasant view. It is quite smooth and grippy.

Fully inserted, the stylus fits well into the design and sits very tight, so do not worry must be to lose the stylus. The features of the Asus Fonepad 6 are quite simple. The USB 2.0 connection is used both for charging the device and the data exchange with a computer. MHL is not supported. Also Asus USB OTG makes no details, but it works perfectly.

The card reader is hidden under the side cover, next to the micro-SIM slot. It takes on microSD cards and supports the SDXC format to 64 GB. An outfit is certainly highlighting the digitizer pen, which can be easily removed. For the operating system, Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is used. The adjustments on the Fonepad 6 are mostly graphical in nature and very discreet. Asus also donated a couple of widgets and numerous in-house apps.

The Super Note program is optimized for pen input, and easy to use. With practice also achieves a good recognition of handwriting, so that the handwritten notes are implemented directly in typescript. With the App Locker individual apps can be secured with a password entry. There are Splendid (color calibration) and Audio Wizard (EQ) are the other two more useful tools. Bloatware is unfortunately also on board, but has its limits and can be uninstalled easily.

In addition, you get 5 GB of free cloud storage. The Asus Fonepad Note FHD6 is indeed almost as big as a small tablet, but it should be as versatile as a Smartphone. This Taiwanese Phablet mainly offers a powerful mobile communication and connectivity as well as the job of a Phablet. It dominates quad -band GSM and can thus be used in all voice networks in the world. The connection to the mobile data traffic is possible at a brisk WCDMA / HSPA + (upload up to 5.76 Mbit / s download up to 42 Mbit / s).

A broad frequency coverage, hence there should be no problems in connectivity. The integrated Wi-Fi module supports the IEEE 802.11 standard a / b / g / n and transmits in the frequency ranges of 2.4 and 5.0 GHz. That sounds pretty decent considering the price range, even if compromising on the modern ac - standard. Bluetooth version 3.0 is on board. The webcam of the Fonepad Note 6 is of 960 pixels x 1,280 with up to 1.2 megapixels.

It is well suited for video calling and deals with ordinary recordings. The main camera on the back features a BSI sensor from Sony, which with 8 MP (3,264 x 2,448 pixels, 4:3). The fixed aperture with a guide number of f / 2.0 is to enable ordinary shots even in low light. In fact, sharp shots even succeed, but which are a bit dark. The image noise is very limited. However, if the lighting is too difficult. The touch screen of the Asus Fonepad Note FHD 6measures six inches and offers exceptional sliding properties. It recognizes up to ten inputs at a same time and converts them precisely.

Display rotations are also carried out expeditiously. In addition, the included digitizer can be used for input. When the pen is removed from its holder, there is both a visual and an audible alert. If it is not used more than five minutes, a warning message appears, ensure that the stylus. The digitizer supports different pressure levels, so that it can be used for drawing. With the cropping function screen contents can be cut and saved as screenshot. Likewise, the stylus dominated the contactless flip if he remains on the screen.

The keyboard is predictably lush oversized and offers plenty of space even in portrait mode, and sufficiently large input spaces. In landscape is little to see from the screen content, for the keys are all the greater. In terms of user, there is therefore nothing to complain about. The Fonepad grade 6’s doing really well, even connected via USB mouse were easily identified.

The six inch screen of the Asus Fonepad Note FHD6 resolves 1,080 pixels x (Full HD) 1920. This corresponds to an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a pixel density of 367 PPI. As the Taiwanese panel technology rely on Super IPS +. Subjectively, the display is a real eye-catcher and shines with a high brightness and deep colors. The external use provides the Fonepad Note FHD6 no challenge too great.

The Phablet benefits from its high brightness and good contrast ratio. Only the reflective surface makes it difficult to read the panels in direct sunlight. A bright ambient light conditions or even darker mastered the instrument effortlessly.

The viewing angle stability is excellent because of the Super IPS + technology used and leaves little to be desired. Even at extreme viewing angles, there can only be guessed color changes. Only the reflective surface may complicate the side view in bright ambient light.

ASUS announces Poseidon graphics card

At Computex, ASUS has made a number of announcements to the players. One of them concerned a rather special graphics card: the Poseidon. Part of the Republic of Gamers line, it will provide cooling air which can be supplemented with water cooling. But contrary to what has been said here and there, it is not a GeForce GTX 770. With the arrival of new graphics cards in the middle range, manufacturers are trying seriously to get back to offering innovative models with the cooling system and this is about the only thing they now have the right to change, even if a degree of freedom is sometimes given to them on the PCB. With the Poseidon, ASUS has decided to propose a model with a system of standard cooling, but could be supplemented with water cooling. All took the name DirectCU H2O and the mark indicates that we can win and 31 ° C with such a solution, it remains to be seen. Republic of Gamers range forces, the model could be over clocked, and more expensive than average, but not necessarily inaccessible. Indeed, in its press release the company says it is a GeForce GTX 700, without elaborating. Some of the experts have argued that it would be a GTX 770, ASUS has confirmed that this is not the case. There remain a lot more possibilities, and although refused further comment, it cannot be that of the GeForce GTX 760, since it is expected to be launched by a little less than two weeks.

Successor of the best-selling console of all time, the DS, she had regained the principle with a double screen and licenses such as legendary Mario or Zelda. But two spots came tarnish this idyllic picture: a 3D screen and energy-especially an introductory price of 250 euros, much too high. It was not until the summer of 2011 for Nintendo finally agreed to lower prices, although rapidly elsewhere. At 150 euros for the Big N. laptop finally sells like hotcakes. Logic, it is even cheaper than the DSi.

 iPhone 4S

Apple has already amply demonstrated its expertise in smartphones, but also about marketing and its ability to sell a new product. In October, all indications are that Apple will introduce a new phone during the keynote in the making. Many expected an iPhone 5, and it is finally an iPhone 4S to be announced, causing at first a disappointment among fans. Yet it is indeed the best product launch, in terms of sales ever made by Apple. He has broken the record of pre-orders in 24 hours in the U.S., reaching one million. The four million units sold will be met only a few days later.
