Windows 10 S: Good, Bad, and How This Could Get Ugly for PC Makers

Windows 10 S
Windows 10 S, a variant of the working framework intended for the training market, has brought up some fascinating issues about Microsoft's progressing endeavors to hit Google and Apple where it harms. Generally, Microsoft and Apple have cut up the school client base between them. Apple picked up an early lead in these 10 years or so back by offering schools shabby authorizing. Redmond did likewise and the two guaranteed that susceptible youthful personalities got used to their working frameworks.

In any case, when Google propelled ChromeOS, shepherded by the Chocolate Factory's currently CEO Sundar Pichai, it was a hit in US schools. Chrome books were shoddy, simple to administrate, and sufficient for school utilize gave the foundation had Wi-Fi. Accordingly, over portion of US nippers are utilizing Chrome books in the classroom now, and have Google records to run them. That is uplifting news for Google, yet the circumstance worldwide is more liquid than that.

Schools that don't have a grounds wide Wi-Fi system aren't that enthusiastic about Chrome books, in light of current circumstances. While it's conceivable to utilize some Google applications disconnected, they aren't awesome thus for the non-US school populace Google has made couple of advances. Microsoft has noticed the move and needs to change things. So it revealed Windows 10 S to battle Google's encroachment of its space and get the cutting edge used to Windows programming.

It takes the center of Redmond's most recent working framework and tunes it for instruction. The OS can just utilize applications that have been checked and cleared for use in the Windows Store, which has its great and terrible sides. On the great side, Microsoft has been exceptionally trained in checking applications it has for dodgy security. The drawback is that applications creators aren't completely sold on Redmond taking a cut of their benefits thus a lot of applications aren't accessible on Redmond's shop front.

That is not an issue, Microsoft demands. On the other hand, if you need an application that isn't in the application store, Windows 10 S will recommend an option. One range in which Windows 10 S truly scores over ChromeOS is that it's developed from the beginning be valuable disconnected and additionally on. You get the fundamental usefulness you require if Wi-Fi is not accessible, but rather additionally access to applications like Office 365 when a web pipe is accessible.

The other mystery hotspot for the OS is the amount Microsoft has installed its Teams joint effort programming in Windows 10 S. Windows 10 S likewise runs the full Creators Edition adaptation of the OS. That implies loads of 3D doodling and full support for HoloLens, something Redmond was quick to advance yet which will confront issues because of the high cost of headsets. The OS is likewise genuinely helpful at managing with lower-spec equipment. Thus, it has been stated during the launch by Microsoft, that the complete basic spec system which runs the OS costs less and is on a par with the Chrome Books.

Google Chrome's most frustrating feature is BACK

Google Chrome is bringing back the most annoying feature

There is a very annoying feature built right into the Google Chrome which uses to leave users frustrated beyond words. Just last year Google finally said goodbye to its annoying feature which allowed users to make use of the backspace key as a smart function to return on previous page.
The major reason why Google went ahead removed this feature from the Google Chrome is that users has complained that they happen to lose data whenever they hit backspace while filling out the online forms. When a user made use of the backspace in order to delete the text in the form then they were simply thrown back to the previous webpage they had visited. This feature was put to its end with the arrival of Google Chrome version 52.

A good thought from Google

At that point of time this feature was seen a major ‘low point’ in the Chrome experience. One of the Google employee even stated that removing that feature brought a major change in the people habit which is a good thing but given the fact the data loss is major issue in today’s time the idea of dropping that feature is well conceived.

Extension to get back to old habits

However people who loved that feature which allowed them to get back without taking the pointer to the back arrow does have some good news. A new Google Chrome extension has come into the play which allows users re-enable this extinct feature on their feature with ease and grace. From now users will get the same old pleasure of hitting the backspace key to back to the previous webpage with this simple browser add-on.

Google is behind the Chrome extension

If you are thinking that some smart user has made this extension in order to bring back the feature to millions of users. Then you will be surprise to know that it is Google who had rolled out the free Chrome extension just week ago on the WebStore. Users are simply required to download the add-on, install it and they are set to visit previous webpages with the stroke of the backspace. Google has titled this extension as ‘Go back With Backspace’ which can be easily found in the Chrome Store.

After installing the extension hitting upon the backspace on the keyboard will bring back the previous webpage. In case you are wondering you will lose your data while filling up the forms online then simply click on the extension icon in the Google Chrome and give a tap on the ‘Disable On This Page’. There is plenty more you can tinker around by simply giving a on the small gear icon for more settings options.

Google has spent some serious time with this extension to make it smarter and innovative accessory for online web browsing experience. Now this extension comes with the default functionality of being disabled for java and flash applets as well as PDFs and the common chat tools.

Google Unveils Asus Chromebit 'Computer on a Stick' With Chrome OS

Chromebit
A new “computer on a stick” is being launched by Taiwan's Asus and Google, which has the feature of being plugged into a display and turning it out a personal computer. According to the blog posted by Google, the Asus Chromebit can be expected to available in the market around mid of the year with the lowest price tag possible.

Google further added that this device is like a candy bar in size, however, works as a full computer and they have currently priced it at $100. The device can be easily plugged into any display and then convert the same into a full computer. For an existing desktop this device is the perfect upgrade and can very handy for businesses and schools. Even though the blog didn’t emphasize on any other details, but it also focused on the lowest-cost Chromebook laptop computers.

These computers have been currently priced at $149 and have been started in collaboration with Chinese electronic groups Hisense and Haier. The Haier computer has an 11.6 inch display and is currently being sold via Amazon and Walmart has been offering the Hisense personal computer. Google has also produced other Chrome devices by working along with other manufacturers like Dell, Acer, LG, and Lenovo.

Haier Chromebook Vs Hisense Chromebook

The Haier Chromebook comes with an 11.6 inch display and is powered by a 1.8 gigahertz Rockchip RK3288 processor. This is a 3.3-pound package in which the buyers will get 16 gigabytes of eMMC flash storage, 2 gigabytes of RAM and a strong and durable battery. According to the company this battery has the potential of powering the Chromebook 11 for nearly 10 hours.

On the other hand, its competitor, Hisense’s Chromebook can be considered as the image of the Chromebook by Haier. It has similar specifications; however, has a slightly higher Rockchip processor. Its 2.5 gigahertz clock speed reduced the battery life and has been clocked around at 8.5 hours. Both these devices are available at the same price of $149 and available in the market at the same time.

Looking at the competition, Taiwanese manufacturer Asus unveiled their Chromebook Flip, which is convertible laptop and tablet (all metal). Even though technical specifications of the Flip are still not out, rumor mills suggest that the device will be launched later this spring and expected to priced at $249.

Google Chromebit

This device is a part of the newest wave of machines which are using Chrome operating system. Its clear that Chrome operating system has been designed to use internet-based applications like Google Docs word processor, email services apart from minimising our reliance on bulky local software which conventionally run on personal computers.

Now the entire task has been moved to a cheaper hardware and it will improve the security as well. Reports also suggest Intel is planning to start working on a similar kind of device which has been temporarily named as Intel compute stick. With passing time, difference between tablets, phones and television and PCs will no longer be visible.

Google's New Tech Will Enable Website Loading Offline Mode

 New Tech
Search engine giant, “Google”, is currently working on different techniques and ideas which will allow the users to load the websites even when they are offline. This will come useful when the user is in an area not under network coverage. The name of this new technology has been given as “Service Workers”. This new technology is a browser standard which will allow the data to get stored locally and the user will be able to render web content, even when they are offline.

Service Workers:

This new technology and its importance can be well explained through a simple example. Think of a time when you have tried accessing any website while being inside the lift and you are humbly greeted by the 404 error. But not anymore, through this new Google tech, user will be served with an older version of the same website which got saved when you would have last visited the same. This new innovation has been the bridge the gap between the websites and apps. This is based on the similar concept as that of apps wherein the pages and content get cached.

According to software engineer, Alex Russell, at Google, through the service workers the company is aiming for loading some content instead of nothing to the users. He also stated that a user might be able to access website if the Wi-Fi is available at that location but as soon as they leave that spot, the website will fail to load. This puts the user in a fix situation. The technology will come out as a key differentiator.

Main Goal:

Although the ultimate goal of the company is to ensure that a user is able to access websites even when there is network coverage issues, one of the other pros is the high speed browsing the users can expect.

This can be due to the fact that the data is already stored in the user device, hence loading and browsing is quicker.

So want to know how it works?

Even though the browser will be working on loading the updated contents of the website requested, the already stored interface and data will show up almost immediately. Say for example, the user doesn’t have to wait for a long time till large image gets loaded on the website, they will be able to use website and interact with it as well. This technology will speed up the interaction by 600 milliseconds/second of web interaction.

However Service Workers is still in its infancy stage and still in development and it may be a long wait till Google is able to implement the technology in all the browsers. This is like developing an app with web like experience.

During the O'Reilly Velocity conference in New York, Alex Russell stated that this new technology is a new browser and will allow documents saving like any other app. With this new technology, Google is aiming to enhance the offline browsing experience of the users and take their technology to a completely new level.

Google Chrome 38 Browser and It’s Profile Management

Chrome 38
Google has released a new beta version of Chrome namely Chrome 38. Let us have a look and feel the changes in it and check whether it is up to the user satisfaction or else for beyond it. With new Chrome 38 Google has integrated a new menu for managing more profiles of different users. The developers are hardly trying to give a tough fight to the Mozilla in the integration of the first WebRTC service in Firefox 33, Google is working on Chrome 38 on a unified control for user profiles, enabled the new guest mode and promises else a lot of new stuff in every nook and edges as much as possible on their own style and way.

The most novel and striking feature of Chrome 38 is their user profile management system. In this new Chrome 38 the user can switch between different profiles very easily and swiftly. This integration is useful when multiple users share a single system. Even though handling of multiple profiles of the users is not new in Chrome and however it is inducted already but those functions and options were hidden in depths of the settings and most of the users hardly notice such options.

To create a new profile, you must call the settings dialog to do so. Besides the possibility to change the profile, the new menu also offers the option to switch to guest mode of the browser. Even though, this option is available since from the version 36 of the chrome, but it was not given much importance and hardly noticed.

But now the guests can use Chrome browser more effectively and on closing of the browser they won’t leave any traces of their foot print in the system. But unlike the incognito mode, a guest mode also serves to protect your privacy, as the guest also could not get your personal data’s like history book marks etc.

Even though it is limited this is possible because every user profile is password protected and also you have an option for switch to one profile from others. The guest user can open Chrome window in visitor mode by clicking in the bottom left of the Chrome. The Windows users of 64- bit version user can download the Chrome 38 or upgrade to Chrome 38 from Chrome 37 without any hindrance where as the users of the Apple's OS X operating system wait some more time for a 64-bit version.

For the Windows users, the browser will do the choice between a 32 and 64-bit version automatically. The latest Chrome 38 beta is flawless and the performance remains at the high level of its predecessor, its V8 benchmark gains more points when compared with its predecessor Chrome 37.

Most innovations deliver Chrome 38 under the hood. Images can be flexibly installed in responsive web pages, which is mainly when browsing with smart phones and tablets of advantage. Developers get for the same the right tools at hand to make it easier to build the WebPages. In addition, the Chrome developer made JavaScript support of your browser with the help of maps and sets as well as new mathematical functions on vigorously.

Interesting for the Android version of the browser is the introduction of the Screen Orientation API and the API NetInfo. Using the former recognize apps when the device orientation changes and prevent, if necessary, the automatic screen rotation. With the second interface asking Apps from the nature of the current network connection to the system and restart it to the strong Wi fi available, if the user is downloading large files then clear when Wi-Fi is available.

With Chrome 38 for Android Google fits the browser continues to material design, the new design language of future Android version. In addition, Chrome is now able to read out the charge state of the Smartphone and, where appropriate, adapt its behavior. Chrome 38 offers equipped with Android L on a Nexus device, have the option to integrate the individual tabs from Chrome in the App Overview of Android.

Open the advanced settings of the browser (and Enable Context search field, can be converted into a web search after restarting the app marked items easy. With Chrome 38 Google Product Care operates in the broadest sense. Even though the new version does have to offer some interesting new features, but the big highlights are still missing.

Thus, the Profile Management is the only special feature in the new design and the protection of the inn mode fall without a password protection from straightforward. Under the hood, though dormant, it primarily benefits the most web developers.

Your Chrome Speech Recognition Can Be Turned Into Spying Device by Malevolent Intent

Chrome
Talking of computer browsers, worldwide users are mostly familiar with three of them, which are Internet explorer of Microsoft, Free share Firefox and the third is Google Chrome. Among these three familiar browsers, a special feature separates the Google Chrome from the other three, and that is Speech Recognition. It can secretly listen to you, using your computer’s microphone and can transcribe the conversations occurring at your home without your knowledge.

This ‘hands-free’ Voice Recognition’ technology has been an obsessive for many technological companies over the years. Their vision is to build a Matrix-like world where the computer users like us will be too lazy to even move their fingers to click a mouse button. Their future has us all perpetually online through computers performing almost all our daily functions via computer. The capability has been there around for some years and so has the ability to abuse it.

A Whistle-blower:

An Israeli software developer, naming Tal Ater, was working on this Voice Recognition software, brings to world’s notice about a security bug in Google’s Chrome browser which is yet to be fixed. The whistle-blower warns that this bug in Google Chrome are being exploited by various malicious sites which can activate your PC’s microphone and listen to anything said around your computer even after you have left those sites.

Working Mechanism:

The whistle-blower first discovered the bug while working on the voice recognition technology and is termed as Annyang. It is a tiny Java-script library that lets its visitors control the site with voice commands supporting many languages. The visitors uses this technology as an alternative to mouse or keyboard to manoeuvre around by simply saying commands like ‘search’ , ‘back’.

Spying activity:

The whistle-blower though defends Google as there is no fault or any sinister intent on their part, for this error. It is the websites that the user’s visit, which is being exploited by the Google Chrome bug to spy on you in your home and you won’t be aware of that.

Example: suppose you are gaming online or just surfing the internet with an old computer of yours. You enter a site that supports voice recognition and you activate it upon entering, simply by clicking a button marked ‘Voice Recognition Off’. After you have finished navigating the website through your own voice commands you click the ‘Voice Recognition Off’ button or just leave the website. Your Google Chrome Browser will show that the plug-in is now off and has stopped listening to the sounds caught by your microphone. The problem lies with the monitor which clearly shows that the listening device is OFF, is actually still ON.

Refusal of fixing the bug:

Google refuses to fix the bug as they are not guilty on their part. But the whistle-blower explains that Google will just need to fix the hole of its browser or else this whistle was not needed to be blown.

64-Bit Chrome For Windows In Beta Phase

64-Bit Chrome
After a short test phase, the 64-bit version of Chrome for Windows is now available in a beta. A fianl version will be released later this year. Even though the hardware and operating systems are fit for 64 bit, many software manufacturers do with the switch to the new architecture more difficult. In the browser world, only the Internet Explorer (since version 8) is available as a 64-bit version.

Now Google Chrome is following the suit and is releasing the 64-bit beta version of their fast browser in beta mode which is meant for the Windows users. A 64-bit version of the Chrome browser is available now to users of Windows 7 and 8 and is in beta development mode. This move shows that Google considers this version is stable enough for a wider public, which would most likely to appear as a final version with Chrome 37 in late August or even within six weeks.

What is surprising is that, as compared to Mozilla, very short test phase of the 64-bit version in the so-called Dev and Canary development branches, which had begun in June. For the Firefox; the developers are experimenting with a 64-bit version for Windows Years together, but they have never released a stable one. According to the internal testing the 64-bit version of Chrome, however, is now much more stable than the 32-bit version, which has been confirmed in the two-month test phase as well.

Above all, the crash rate of the rendering process had significantly reduced. Although the main advantage of 64-bit programs rarely comes (more than 3.2 gigabytes of addressable memory) for smaller programs such as browsers to support, but the development should be also applied here in the future. A real advantage is improving the security of Windows-8-users who do not currently have.

In Windows 8 Chrome can use with high entropy due to the 64-bit Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR), which also help to better fend off JIT-Spraying attack. In addition, existing defense mechanisms, such as the heap partitioning is more effective.

According to Google, the larger word width also allows "the use of processor and compiler optimizations, modern instruction sets and calling conventions, which allow more function parameters are quickly passed by the register."

This should be accelerated in particular with the presentation of graphics and multimedia content. Google tells that the average performance increased by 25 percent. In their first announcement of Google promised its users more speed, security and stability.

The 64-bit beta of Chrome 37 is available for Windows now for download and can be used as a complete replacement for the previously used 32-bit versions.

Google demotes Chrome Feature

Google Chrome
Original Chip Plan Now Hides full Addresses

Recently, Chrome team member, Peter Kasting has demoted one aspect of the address hiding feature to a third level priority from a top priority level and those wanting their browser showing websites’ full addresses, should be glad that Google has put in work on its former chip, on the back burner. Google has now taken a step back from its original chip plan which would now hide the full addresses that people visit with its Chrome browser. In his explanation on Google’s issue tracking site, Kasting states that `the origin chip work is back burned’.

To the left of Chrome’s address bar is the region of the origin chipwhich shows only the domain of a web addresses and instead of a full web address it now shows a shorter form of a web address where longer address could be more useful but it could also be more crowded with obscure coding. It is unknown why Google has done this but a lot of the origin chip work has already been done with some other aspects of the origin chip work remaining active in the Chrome issue tracker. No comments have been received from Google with regards to this issue.

Navigation to Web – Changed

Google had been conducting test on the feature of a fraction of Chrome beta user to get people’s response, some of which were negative since the full web address portrays useful information. Navigation to the web has now changed and full addresses are no longer essential as they were earlier.

To navigate to a particular site, the option of the search engine was used to get where one wanted to go and the share buttons in smartphone app can take the place of a copy and paste operation when one wants to tell a friend regarding a particular web site.

However it is hard to change user interfaces where millions of user have now become accustomed to it and Chrome’s growth on the usage of the net has made it harder for Google to introduce significant changes like the omnibox or the origin chip which merged the browser’s search box and the address boxes when Chrome had been debuted in 2008.

Minimalist Presentation – More Inviting to Search

Kasting has also shared some reasons why the origin chip would be a good idea in his earlier comments on Google+. According to him the minimalist presentation would be making it more inviting to search, and could make it easier to refine searches by adding or removing search terms and improve security by showing users what site they are really on and not just what a carefully crafted address would misleadingly suggest.

Web addresses also called URLs – uniform resource locators, are fundamental parts of the World Wide Web that Time Berners Lee had created around twenty five years ahead and the origin chip does not remove the full URL but is something that people are looking for. With the origin chip feature implemented, user could click on the chip and see or copy the full address. Beside this, the Ctrl/Cmd-L keyboard shortcut also shows – select the full address, as it shows today with the origin chip.

Google Chrome 34 Without Voice Command

Google Chrome 34
The latest version of Google's browser comes with almost all the features provided as they promised earlier. Google has released the final version of Chrome 34. It is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux; the latest version of this browser brings you the most awaited integration beta features, and fixes a number of vulnerabilities. But one of the prominent speech command "Google OK" is missing.

It was available in the beta on the U.S. version of the browser, to control or launch Google chrome, without clicking, search by voice. It was withdrawn without any elaboration from Google. The rest of the features in the beta version are present in the final version. Images are responsive, for example, that allow developers to assign via 'srcset' different sizes to a single image, depending on the resolution of the screen on the device used.

A clear loading time gain of the page and readability of websites on mobile devices are clearly visible. Another feature expected is the integration of audio by the corresponding tag, without prefix. The trouble to specify the attributes of a file to its Chrome browser alone and the same standard tag also work well for Firefox and Google's browser, through the implementation of standardized Web Audio API.
